The difference between 202 steel and 304 stainless steel plate:
Different specifications
The commonly used stainless steel plates are divided into two types: 201 and 304 stainless steel plates. In fact, the composition is different. 304 has better quality, but the price is expensive, and 201 is slightly inferior. 304 is an imported stainless steel plate, and 201 is a domestically produced stainless steel plate.
2. Different compositions
201 is composed of 17Cr-4.5Ni-6Mn-N, which is a Ni steel grade and a substitute for 301 steel. After cold processing, it has magnetism and is used in railway vehicles.
304 is composed of 18Cr-9Ni and is the most widely used stainless steel and heat-resistant steel. Used in food production equipment, Xitong chemical equipment, nuclear energy, etc. Molybdenum also promotes the precipitation of intermetallic phases, such as σ phase, κ phase, and Laves phase, in austenitic stainless steel, which has adverse effects on the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the steel, especially leading to a decrease in plasticity and toughness. In order to maintain a single austenite structure in austenitic stainless steel, with the increase of molybdenum content in the steel, the content of austenite forming elements (nickel, nitrogen, manganese, etc.) should also be correspondingly increased to maintain a balance between ferrite and austenite forming elements in the steel.
3. Different elements contained
201 has a high manganese content and a bright surface with a dark luster. It is prone to rusting due to its high manganese content.
304 contains a lot of chromium, with a matte surface and no rust. The two are compared when placed together. The most important thing is that the corrosion resistance is different. 201 has poor corrosion resistance, so the price is much cheaper. Also, because 201 has low nickel content, its corrosion resistance is not as good as 304's.
The difference between 4.201 and 304 is the issue of nickel content.
Moreover, the price of 304 is currently quite expensive, usually close to 50000 per ton, but at least 304 can ensure that it will not rust during use. (Medicinal solution can be used for experiments)
5. Stainless steel is less prone to rusting because the formation of chromium rich oxides on the surface of the steel body can protect the steel body. 201 material belongs to high manganese stainless steel with higher hardness, higher carbon, and lower nickel than 304. Natural intergranular corrosion is a tendency in materials that do not contain titanium and niobium to exhibit intergranular corrosion. Adding titanium and niobium, combined with stabilization treatment, can reduce intergranular corrosion. A high alloy steel that can resist corrosion in air or chemical corrosive media. Stainless steel is a type of steel that has a beautiful surface and good corrosion resistance, without the need for surface treatment such as plating, and utilizes the inherent surface properties of stainless steel. It is commonly used in various types of steel and is commonly referred to as stainless steel.
